Q: What is an OTA update? Why is this important for me to know? A: An OTA (Over-The-Air) update is a firmware upgrade that will bring your MEEP!X2 to the most updated software version available. As we will constantly strive to improve the MEEP!X2 Experience, we will release OTAs from time to time in order to update the software. Our system will automatically check if the software version on your MEEP!X2 is the latest one and if there is an updated version available, a notification will pop-up on the left-hand menu of the Main Page of the MEEP!X2. Click on the notification and follow the instructions to download the OTA package. For more details, please click on the following link: www.meeptablet.com/ota Q: Does upgrading the MEEP!X2 improve its performance?
Q: What is OTA? Why is this important for me to know? A: OTA (Over-The-Air) is a firmware upgrade to your MEEP! That brings the MEEP! To the most current. Hi, I am having an issue with my Meep tablet. Needless to say I rebooted and now am stuck at the white MEEP. Meeptablet dot com /ota.
We are constantly working on optimizing the MEEP!X2 Experience and adding new features. You will regularly be able to upgrade the software of your MEEP!X2 online, via OTA (Over-The-Air) updates. We strongly recommend proceeding with those OTA updates as they will improve the MEEP!X2 Experience. Q: Experiencing difficulty with OTA downloads?
A: Please make sure that the MEEP!X2 is correctly connected to the Wi-Fi and plugged to its adaptor. If you still can’t download the OTA via Wi-Fi, we strongly recommend to download the OTA package via your PC/Mac before to transfer it on your MEEP!X2 using a microSD card. Please visit the following link for more details: www.meeptablet.com/ota Q: I don’t know what my MEEP!X2 version is? A: You can find the software version of your MEEP!X2 in the Profile Page, located on the left-hand menu of the home page. The version number is indicated in the bottom right corner of the profile page (it should look like 3.x.x). The Serial number of your MEEP!X2 is indicated in the bottom left corner. Q: Why must a MEEP!X2 be registered?
A: This is to ensure that you, as a parent, can set up the MEEP!X2 with as much restriction or allowance as you desire for your child. If by default, most of the online features are unblocked on the MEEP!X2, the device must be registered by an adult in order for the child to gain online access to the Communicator. Q: How do I register the MEEP!X2 on the MEEP!
Together parental portal? A: The parental portal can be accessed via the MEEP!
X2, a computer, or a smart phone (iOS and Android). This portal is used to set up the MEEP! X2 for your child’s use. When accessing the parental portal from the MEEP! X2 tablet specifically, when you exit the parental portal you will receive a “session timed out” message.
This is by design and is meant to show that you’ve logged out of the portal so that your CHILD will not have access to access the parental portal at that point. You can also access the web version of MEEP! Together at the below link: portal.meeptablet.com You can also register your MEEP!X2 by using the MEEP! Together App available for iOS and Android devices. Note: the web version of the parental portal is compatible with Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer (version 8 and above) Q: Can I change the information provided during the registration, including the email address? A: You can modify your personal information (name, address, telephone number) as well as your child’s personal information by using the On-Device parental controls or by downloading the MEEP! Together App available in the App Store or on Google Play.
However, it is not possible to modify your registered email address by yourself. You have to contact our customer service in order to do so. Q: Why is a credit card required to unlock the Communicator feature on the MEEP!X2? A: We require a one dollar charge to a credit card in order to maintain COPPA (Child Online Protection Act) compliance which ensures that an adult is unlocking the chat feature of the MEEP!X2. This is a one-time charge and the one dollar is converted to 100 MEEP! Coins which are then available for items purchase on the MEEP!
We do not maintain the credit card information which is strictly used as a way to confirm that the Communicator is being unlocked by the parent or an adult. Note: A small additional fee may be charged to your credit card account, by your bank, when proceeding with the payment. Q: My credit card isn’t accepted or I don’t own a credit card. What can I do?
A: There are some specific credit cards that are not supported at the moment. You can contact our customer support for further details. In the mean time, we’re regularly adding credit card models to our payment gateway to provide a better payment experience to the MEEP!X2 users. As of today, only Visa, MasterCard and Amex (US only) are available options in our payment gateway. If you don’t own a credit card, you can contact our customer service and they will help with the adult verification. Q: Why must I set up a Gmail account? Why should it be separate from my own Gmail account?
A: A Gmail account is necessary in order to access Google Play content on the MEEP!X2. We highly recommend that you set up a new Gmail account for your child as opposed to using your own Gmail account.
If you use your own Gmail account to set up Google Play on the MEEP!X2, your Gmail messages will then flow into the MEEP!X2 if Gmail has been set up in the MEEP!X2. Therefore it's best to set up a new and separate Gmail account for your child.
Q: Can you explain the Parental Controls in greater details? A: The MEEP!X2 Parental Settings allow you to set up restrictions or allowance as you desire for your child on his/her MEEP!X2. For example you can set a one hour play time for games and at the end of that hour a “Time’s up” pop up message will appear on the MEEP!X2 to let your child know that his/her playing time has expired. You can then choose to modify instantly by visiting the Parental Settings page on the MEEP! Together website, or by directly using the On-Device Parental Settings on the MEEP!X2. For another option, you can use the iOS app or Android app to modify the parental controls easily.
You are also able to set access the settings for the MEEP! Store, Google Play, and the Communicator on the Parental Settings page. Lastly you are given the opportunity to set the overall access of your child to the Internet. You can limit your child’s access to only websites that are Oregon Scientific certified for kids or as your child gets older you can open it up so they can type in their own URLs. However we always maintain a blacklist of inappropriate sites no matter what the settings are in the parental controls. If there are websites that you feel are appropriate for your child you can also suggest them via the Parental portal and the websites will show up on the MEEP!X2 in the Parent Recommendation list.
It works the same for YouTube videos in the YouTube player. Q: What is the bad words list? How is it used on the MEEP!X2? A: We maintain a bad words list and you can add words to that bad words list as well. This precludes your child from using bad words that you feel are inappropriate in chat or in the search function of the Web browser and YouTube. If your child types a word from the bad word list, an error message will appear to let him know that this word is prohibited in the search function. Note: It is possible to disable the bad words list, via the parental settings.
Q: I’m not able to register on the Parental portal? What can I do? A: Please note that only 1 child’s name can be registered as the owner of each MEEP!X2. For those who have registered multiple children onto the MEEP!X2 or duplicate the same child’s name, our system will automatically delete the multiples or duplications. All registration will be confirmed by an email sent to your registered account. To verify if you have successfully registered before, you can simply log into the Parental portal. A message will tell you if your email address has been already registered or not.
When you do the registration, please make sure: 1. The serial number you enter is correct (sometimes an O can be confused with a 0, or a 1 can be confused with an I) 2. Ensure the serial number has not been registered before (if you receive a message telling you that the serial number is already registered, please contact us to verify) 3. The email address has not been registered before (if you receive a message telling you that the email address is already registered, please contact us to verify) Q: I’m unable to proceed with the set up of the Parental settings. A: Before to proceed with the Parental Settings, please make sure your MEEP!X2 is connected to Wi-Fi.
If you experience trouble applying your Parental Settings to your MEEP!X2 or if the Parental Settings couldn’t be saved correctly, please go to the Parental Portal and confirm your Parental Settings again. The system will tell you if your previous settings have been successfully saved or not (a pop up window will appear). If not, please try to confirm it again (sometimes, the settings won’t save right away if our server is not stable for a short period or too busy). It may take a while before the settings are synchronized to the MEEP!X2. Please be patient. Sometimes a reboot of the MEEP!X2 may also be necessary in order for the device to save the new settings correctly. Q: I can’t receive the verification email after creating my parent account?
A: If you can't find our verification email in your mailbox, please remember to check the other folders in your email account (Spam, Junk E-mail.). It could sometimes wind up there. Q: What is available in the Help section on the MEEP!X2? A: There is a help section accessible from the tablet in the help and safety section of the MEEP! It provides quick tips for getting the most out of your MEEP!
You can also access a full product manual as well as a complete FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) in the support section at www.meeptablet.com. The product manual provides a complete overview for the MEEP! X2 beyond the quick start guide.
Click on support at the top of the page to find both the manual and FAQ. Q: How do I unlock the MEEP!X2 A: When first booting up the MEEP! X2 you will see a “lock screen”. This is a normal Android screen that locks the screen from unintentional use. To unlock, simply press the lock symbol with your finger and drag to the unlock symbol on the screen. Q: It seems the harder I press on an icon the less responsive it is. A: The MEEP!X2 uses an optical interface.
It ACTUALLY has greater response to a lighter touch. We will continue to improve the interface with future firmware updates. Your MEEP!X2 might crash if you tap too quickly and repetitively on the screen. The touchscreen of your MEEP!X2 will respond better to a light touch than to a repetitive tap. Q: I still can't get my MEEP!X2 Connected to the Internet. A: Make sure you have followed the instructions in the MEEP!X2 user manual, and pay attention to the following points: Make sure that there is a Wi-Fi hotspot nearby.
Make sure that you have setup the Wi-Fi connection correctly in the 'Settings' page The connection quality depends on the quality of the Wi-Fi signal. Any security settings on the network can affect the online experience of MEEP!X2, so make sure any password enabled Wi-Fi service has the password entered on the MEEP!X2. If you have 3G or 4G on your Smartphone, you may be able to share the connection to the MEEP!X2 by turning on the WiFi hotspot function.
Q: I can’t connect to a public network. A: Open the Web Browser to see what the requirements of the public network are. If required, enter the password or codes asked to access the Wi-Fi network. Q: Why doesn't my MEEP!X2 let me watch flash videos or play flash games? A: This is not a MEEP!X2 issue as much as it is an Android issue. In August 2012 Adobe dropped flash support for Android in lieu of HTML 5.0 video standards. It will take some time for websites to incorporate the new HTML 5.0 code for video playback.
![Reviews Reviews](/uploads/1/2/5/4/125480905/272420906.jpg)
Flash will not run on the current version of Android (4.2+) Q: Sometimes children can't use the YouTube Player or can't view the video they searched for. A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions or didn't authorize some videos in the YouTube player. Please visit the Parental Settings in order to modify the access for the YouTube player. Another reason is that the video itself is encrypted by YouTube and may not be available for certain devices, including the MEEP!X2.
We’re now filtering all those incompatible videos in order to hide those incompatible videos from the search results. Note: It may happen that some of your favorite videos can’t be found in the search results if they are not compatible with the MEEP!X2. Q: Sometimes the Web Browser cannot be accessed. A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions or didn't authorize some websites. Please visit the Parental Settings in order to modify the access for the Web browser.
Q: Sometimes children can't view the website they want, or they can't read content on a website. A: It may be because the website is blocked by you or supervisors that you assigned, as well as by Oregon Scientific. If children can't read content, it may be because the MEEP!X2 doesn't support the file format of the content. Q: Sometimes children can't use the Communicator. A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions. Please visit the Parental Settings in order to modify the access for the Communicator.
Q: We have Netflix, does it work on the MEEP!X2? A: Yes, Netflix is running fine on the MEEP!X2 Q: How many You Tube videos can I suggest in the suggestion page of the Parental portal? A: There’s no limitation on the number of suggestions. Q: How can I change the language of the MEEP!X2 after I’ve passed the Open the Box sequence? A: It is possible to change the language of the MEEP!X2 at anytime by visiting the Settings page.
This page can be accessed by tapping the Settings icon on the right-hand menu of the MEEP!X2 or by tapping the Android notification bar at the bottom right corner of the MEEP!X2. Q: Why is the camera appsometimes blocked? A: If you blocked the access of the Picture viewer in the Parental Settings, it will also block the access to the camera. To unblock the camera, please visit the parental settings and unblock the Picture Viewer access. Q: My App crashed! A: Tap on the Multitasking button on the Android task bar at the bottom of the screen. Then, select the current running App that you want to force close and swipe it down.
You can then restart the App from the Apps folder. Q: How to make sure that I’ve completely closed an App/Game? A: To close an App/Game on the MEEP!X2, you’ll have to tap on the back button until you’re redirected to the home page. Note: if you tap on the home button, you will also be redirected to the home page, but the app/game won’t be closed and will still keep running in the background.
You can use the multitask button, next to the home button, to see which app/games are currently running on your MEEP!X2. Note: it is important that you’re using the back button, opposite to the home button, to exit the Parental Portal or Google Play, so that your child won’t be able to access those features through the multitask button. Q: How can I change my child’s profile picture? A: You can change your child’s profile picture directly on the MEEP!X2 by tapping on the profile picture, located on the left side menu, in the main page. The MEEP!X2 needs to be online in order to proceed with the modification of the profile picture.
Q: What can I do if my MEEP!X2 hangs or has sluggish performances? A: If your MEEP!X2 hangs, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 5s to force restart the device. Any unsaved content will be lost in the process. You can also try to press the reset button at the back to reboot the device, under the silicon cover on the left side of the back panel. You may also download a task killing app from Google Play or the Meep store.
Have it installed and use it to end unnecessary tasks. Q: The battery seems to drain quickly. Is there something I can do to extend the battery life? A: Wi-Fi connections tend to drain the battery faster so if the child is not online and is mostly playing games or other activities it's best to turn the Wi-Fi off. Additionally, processor intensive activities such as movies and certain games will make the battery drain faster. Q: I noticed the MEEP!X2 comes with an AC adaptor. But does it also charge via micro USB?
A: Yes, the MEEPX2! Battery will be charged if connected via micro USB to a PC or Mac but IT IS NOT the recommended way to charge your MEEP!X2.
Your MEEP!X2 will charge much faster if connected to the AC adaptor. Q: My USB charger doesn’t seem to charge the MEEP!X2 anymore.
A: Don’t apply any pressure or force on the USB charger extremity while plugged into the MEEP!X2 as it may cause a break in the USB contact pins, resulting in a deterioration of the charging ability of the USB charger. Please also avoid any bending of the USB charger extremity when using the MEEP!X2 on a flat surface while plugged to the USB charger. Q: I don’t know how to view files from a microSD card on my MEEP!X2 A: Please read the microSD card section in the MEEP!X2 user manual.
If you can’t find the answer there, please follow the bellow instructions. Make sure that you put the desired documents on the top level of the file structure.
This feature only supports videos, pictures, and music. MEEP!X2 only supports microSD cards with capacities of up to 32GB. MEEP!X2 can’t read some file formats. Please read the General section in the FAQ for further instructions.
Some file reading problems may occur if you insert/remove the microSD card while you are viewing the files. Please quit the viewer to Main Menu and launch the viewer again. Q: I've tried to view some files from my microSD card on my MEEP!X2. I followed the instructions but it still doesn’t work. A: It is probably because MEEP!X2 doesn’t support the type of file you are trying to view.
There are many free file converters available to convert file formats. Try different combinations and please make sure the file extension is in the lower case! Photo.jpg not photo.JPG.). Q: Sometimes I can't use the MEEP!
A: It may be because you or the supervisors you assigned have blocked access to the online functions. Once you approve access to the online functions, your children will be able to access the MEEP! It may also be due to the fact that your MEEP!X2 can’t connect successfully to our server.
To make sure that your MEEP!X2 is well connected to our server, please check the little dot located next to the Profile Picture on the left hand menu of your MEEP!X2. This dot should be green if your MEEP!X2 is correctly connected to our server. And it will be red, if not connected. It may happen that our servers will be busy from time to time, but we’re constantly monitoring them to insure a stable and smooth connection of your MEEP!X2. Q: Losing content (pre-loaded and other) after a factory reset? A: If you should need to do a factory reset of the MEEP! X2, please refer to the help section of the MEEP!X2 or the Quick Start Guide.
Please note that if you do a factory reset, you will lose the pre-loaded games and apps however you can easily re-download them for free from the MEEP! Store under the My Apps section. When you do a factory reset, the registration data still remains.
This is by default as it prevents someone else from being able register the tablet in instances of theft or otherwise. Q: How can I purchase MEEP! Coins can only be purchased from the web version of MEEP! It is NOT possible to buy coins by using the on-device version of MEEP! Together or the iOS and Android app versions. Q: Am I getting what I purchase in the MEEP! Store with my MEEP!
A: In case you have not been able to download the game/app after purchasing it with your MEEP! Coins, please note the following points: 1. If the purchase didn’t go through or you have not approved your child’s request of the purchase, the MEEP!
Coins will not be deducted from your child’s account 2. If the purchase was successful, the game/app will be downloaded to your MEEP!X2 automatically, or the next time you turn it on. Coins purchase works like this: 1. When your child requests a purchase awaiting your approval, the MEEP! Coins will be held and the child account will show a deduction (which is not a real deduction!) 2. After you approve the purchase, the MEEP! Coins will be formally deducted 3.
If you reject the purchase, the MEEP! Coins will be returned back to the child’s account Q: Why am I encountering difficulties redeeming the Accessory games using the coupon code?
A: Please make sure that you’ve entered the correct code as sometimes an “I” could be mistaken for a “1” or an “O” for a “0”. In fact, there’s no limit on the number of times you redeem the games through the coupon codes. As a friendly reminder, please keep the coupon codes with you so that you can still redeem the games with the same coupon codes after performing a factory reset. In the unfortunate event of a missing coupon code in the packaging of accessories, you can call our Customer Service and they will provide you with a replacement coupon code so that you can download the free games associated to that accessory. Q: Some of the content on the MEEP!X2 seems to address young children, is there content available for older children? A: Yes absolutely, either through the MEEP!
Store or via Google play you will find plenty of games, books, movies, and other apps for all ages. MEEP!X2 was designed for kids 6+, but younger kids and even kids older than 11 can still find enjoyment and content suitable for them. Q: Under the same security settings, I don't need approval for some games while I need approval for some others, why? A: It depends on the settings level for the MEEP! Store on the MEEP! Together portal.
You can select Blocked, Approval needed or Full Access. For the last case your children will be able to download direct items from the MEEP! Store, assuming they have enough MEEP! Coins to do so. This doesn't apply to Google Play applications for which a parent/supervisor request will always be necessary.
This is for safety reasons, so as to avoid children accessing inappropriate content on Google Play. Q: How do I access Google Play to download content to the MEEP!X2? A: You have to register a Google Play account first. From the parental portal, click on 'Parental Settings' at the top and then select your child’s MEEP!X2. You will find an 'Open Google Play' button near the Google Play settings. Make sure your MEEP!X2 is connected to the Wi-Fi and click on that button to open Google Play on the device.
Additionally you can log into Google Play on your Web Browser using the Gmail account associated with the MEEPX2! And push applications directly to the MEEP!X2.
At last, you can also open Google Play, from the MEEP!X2, via the Parental Settings App. Once logged in, tap the Open Google Play button located on the left side panel of the Parental Settings App. Q: Do ALL Google Play apps work on the MEEP!X2? A: Most do, but not all. For instance if the app requires phone features it may not run on the MEEP!X2. Google Play will let you know if it is not installable on the MEEP!X2.
Q: Does Skype work on the MEEP!X2? A: YES, Skype works on the MEEP!X2. Q: Does Facebook work on the MEEP!X2?
A: YES, Facebook works on the MEEP!X2. Q: I can’t download Games that require a microSD card, even though I’ve inserted an empty microSD into my MEEP!X2. A: Make sure that the SD format is FAT. The SD card may have been previously formatted. If it’s in NTFS format, the MEEP won’t be able to read the SD card. You can reformat the card from your computer.
Q: What accessories are available for MEEP!X2? A: We will have colored sleeves available in different colors. We will also have a whole host of hardware accessories to round out the MEEP!X2 Experience including MEEP!X2 Headphones, a MEEP!X2 Docking station, a MEEP!X2 Travel Kit, a MEEP!X2 Piano, MEEP!X2 Drums, a MEEP!X2 Keyboard, and a MEEP!X2 HDMI cable. Please visit www.meeptablet.com for more info.

Q: Do the accessories come with their own apps? A: Only the MEEP!X2 Piano, MEEP!X2 Drum, and MEEP!X2 Keyboard come with a coupon code that will allow you to download free games and apps that are specific to the accessories (4 games for the Piano and Drum accessories and 1 App for the Keyboard).
Q: Can I use the accessories to play all games and apps? A: No, the accessories are to be used with their specific games that we have been developing especially for them, so as to ensure the best compatibility and gameplay possible.
